NEACUHO present the 2018 Tool Kit Series. Six sessions to help our housing professionals navigate our field a little better. These sessions will be held at two sites on two different days throughout the region. Additionally, participants will be able to remotely access all of the sessions. There is no cost for NEACUHO Members. Non-NEACUHO Members there is a cost of $60.

Day 1 - Friday, August 3rd at Dean College & On-line

  • Session 1: Decision Making Skills for Live-in Professionals - Shannon Overcash, Assistant Dean of Students, Dean College
    • Attendees will gain tips for good decision making
    • Attendees will gain knowledge in breaking down how to make a difficult decision
    • Attendees will be able to identify what makes a good decision verses bad decision

  • Session 2: Holding Staff, Students & Yourself Accountable - Ryan Young, Assistant Director of Residential Life: Residence Education, UMASS Amherst
    • Attendees will learn how to hold them self accountable within their role
    • Attendees will learn what it means and how to hold staff members both paraprofessional and fellow colleagues accountable
    • Attendees will learn tips and tools to be able to hold students accountable
  • Session 3: Navigating Campus Politics - Beth Moriarty, Director of Residence Life and Housing, Bridgewater State University
    • Attendees will learn tips to aid yourself in helping your supervisor, office, department, and/or division in campus politics
    • Attendees will learn a limited definition of what campus politics are
    •  Attendees will learn how to identify when campus politics are happening around you

Day 2 - Tuesday, August 7th at Brandeis University & On-line

  • Session 1: Budgeting as a Live-in Professional - Jonathan Bragg, Associate Director of Residence Life, Merrimack College
    • Attendees will learn tips on to provide savings for their future as they move on in their career
    • Attendees will be able to learn free resources in how to manage their budget
    • Attendees will be able to identify their spending habits
  • Session 2: Managing Up - Heather Quire, Dean of Students, Southern Vermont College
    • Attendees will identify the type of manager(s) they work with and the skill set they possess
    • Attendees will learn how to navigate through a productive working relationship
    • Attendees will learn tips on how to effectively communicate needs and suggestions to their supervisor
  • Session 3: Establishing Boundaries in your Role - Trish Loring, Director of Residence Life, NHTI, Concord's Community College
    • Attendees will learn how to set boundaries both personally and professionally in their role
    • Attendees will learn tips and tools for establishing boundaries
    • Attendees will learn the importance and reason as to why these boundaries are needed
