The NEACUHO executive board is currently seeking residence life/housing professionals working in the NEACUHO region to serve on a NEACUHO committee. In order to serve the Association as a committee member, you should be able to fulfill the following expectations to the best of your ability. Please consider the checklist below as you consider serving in this capacity:

  • Attend NEACUHO conferences/events;
  • Actively help the chair, co-chairs, and peers with the work of the committee
  • Meet expectations specific to committee on which you serve;
  • Notify immediate supervisor of committee responsibilities.
  • Reply to committee chair emails and specific requests for information;

This year NEACUHO is exploring a Fall annual conference for Fall 2017. Once a location is chosen the Corporate Relations and Program Committees will become active. Please check back in late September for more information.

Committees 

Corporate Relations:(will be available in late september)

The purpose of this committee is the recruitment of exhibitors, Corporate Affiliates, and corporate sponsors to support NEACUHO‚Äôs programmatic and operational needs throughout the year.  This committee is responsible for soliciting exhibitors for the Exhibitor Fair at the Annual Conference.  This committee works in conjunction with the Annual Conference Committee and the Program Committee in planning the annual conference.

 

Media and Publications:

The purpose of this committee is to gather current information from members and committees for publication purposes.  This committee shall publish a newsletter a minimum of four times a year, as well as create and maintain NEACUHO publication guidelines.  Additionally this committee shall develop other publications as assigned.

 

New Professional Development:

The purpose of this committee is to provide a system to welcome, support, and educate new professionals and para-professionals through a variety of activities, social events, and professional networking opportunities.  Specifically: educating about current trends and topical issues, the coordination of RD2B, the coordination of the New Professional Orientation at the Annual Conference, and the coordination and implementation of the New Professionals Conference.

 

Professional Development:

The purpose of this committee is to provide a system to welcome, support, and educate mid-level and senior level professionals.  This includes but is not limited to developing resources, educating about current trends and topical issues, training, and professional networking opportunities.  Additionally this committee shall be responsible for the coordination and implementation of a Drive-In Conference & a Mid-level Institute as well as determining award winners as appropriate.

 

Program: (Will be available in late september)

The purpose of this committee is to provide quality programs at the Annual Conference.  This committee is responsible for coordinating the following activities: the pre-conference program, the new professional case study competition, choosing the keynote speaker, selecting the slate of programs for the conference, and determining award winners as appropriate (Bylaws 5, Section 3).  It is the responsibility of this committee to encourage all members, within all levels of professional experience, to present at conferences and to ensure that the professional needs and interests of professionals in all aspects of the housing profession are met.  This committee works in conjunction with the Annual Conference Committee and the Corporate Relations Committee in planning the annual conference.

 

Residential Operations:

The purpose of this committee is to coordinate and organize activities and programs related to residential operations.  This includes the specific areas of housing assignments, conference services, assessment, technology, residential facilities, and food services.  The committee shall work to promote education and awareness around these topics and to support members of NEACUHO involved in this aspect of the housing profession.  Additionally this committee shall be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Residential Operations Conference.

 

Risk Management and Legal Issues:

The purpose of this committee is to coordinate activities and programs related to risk management, legal issues, crisis planning, and judicial affairs, as well as promote education and awareness around these topics.  Specifically, the committee shall: write articles for the NEACUHO Navigator on the issues listed above, develop/present programs at organization workshops, conferences and the like, and host networking opportunities for housing professionals whose roles are related to these issues including providing initiatives for Senior Level Housing professionals.

 

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion:

The purpose of this committee is to coordinate and promote activities and programs that address issues of social justice.  This committee shall identify and create strategies to specifically address distinctive needs such as diversity, women's issues, GLBT issues, and the needs of other special or oppressed populations.  Additionally this committee shall be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Social Issues Retreats.

 

 

Committee Appointment Process

NEACUHO members may register to be on a committee for the coming academic year each June. Individuals interested in serving on a committee may submit a committee member application form (including new and returning committee members). Committee appointments are made after the Annual Conference. Committee membership runs from June 2016 through October 2017 to coincide with NEACUHO's Annual Conference. The President, consulting with committee chairs, appoints committee members.
