I am honored to be nominated for the position of Treasurer of NEACUHO. NEACUHO has been my professional home since graduate school, when I joined the Annual Host Committee at Northeastern University and have served on three annual host committees, including co-chairing the recent 2017 Annual Conference in Portland, Maine. The Annual Conference has the largest single event budget in the organization, and the co-chairs work closely with the Treasurer in ensuring that the financial guidelines for the event are met. For the past three years I also served as a member of the Risk Management & Legal Issues (RMLI) committee, chairing the committee last year. These experiences gave me the opportunity to work with and provide leadership to a wide range of professionals around the region.

These experiences have given me insight into the importance of the finances of the organization, and I would seek to continue strengthening NEACUHO’s financial position while continuing to offer high quality professional development opportunities at an affordable price as treasurer of the organization, all while being transparent to our membership about our finances and how your money is being spent. NEACUHO is in a strong financial position with a sizeable reserve, which makes out organization well-positioned to move forward with both favorite returning and brand new offerings and events, while also able to ensure our financial obligations. I would look to continue this growth of our reserve during my time in office if possible. The change in the Annual Conference to an off-site location also provides a unique opportunity for us to explore if the Annual Conference should be a separate budget account that rolls over from year to year.

I look forward to continuing my work with this great organization in the role of Treasurer. I know there are many other professionals, including new professionals, who are financially minded, or interested in the financial processes of the organization and are looking to get involved with the organization, and I hope to work with many of you in this role. If you have any questions about my candidacy, feel free to contact me!

Director of Residence Life

I currently wok at Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA as the Director of Residence Life.  I have been in my current role since June 2016.  Prior to coming to Anna Mara I was the Assistant Director of Residential Operations at Clark University and before that was at Merrimack College in Residence Life.

Most recently I was a member of the NEACUHO Annual Conference Committee at WPI in 2016.  I have also served on the new professional development committee and the programming committee.

Greetings, my name is Jessica Eckstrom and I would be thrilled to serve as NEACUHO’s Treasurer Elect.  I am currently the Director of Residence Life at Anna Maria College in Worcester, MA.  NEACUHO holds a special place for me as a student affairs professional because it’s the organization in which I first found my professional home.  I was fortunate to be able to be involved in NEACUHO in a number of different ways including serving on a host committee for the annual conference, being a part of several committees and presenting at numerous conferences. The treasurer elect position would allow me the opportunity to reengage with NEACUHO and play an active role in the development of the organization.  I also feel my experience managing my own department budget and my previous experience managing conference budgets would serve me well in this roll. As treasurer elect I would be able to make financially responsible decisions that would benefit the organization for years to come.  I hope you will give me the opportunity to continue my involvement with NEACUHO by serving you in this role.
